The Moore Public Schools Foundation’s primary focus has always been teacher resource grants. As time has passed, school safety has also become part of the Foundation’s focus. In 2014, the Foundation was able to fund a $97,000 project that installed buzz-in security systems at all 25 Moore Elementary Schools. These systems locked down all of the elementary schools. Now, all visitors buzz-in upon arrival which activates a bell in the front office. Front office staff is made aware of the visitor, can see them on camera and asks them to state their business before allowing their entrance into the building.
Since 2014, the Foundation has been actively fundraising and grant writing to extend the safety improvements throughout the district. On February 16, 2018, a patron reached out to the Moore Public Schools Foundation and asked what it would take to make Moore Public Schools amongst some of the safest schools in America. This donor has pledged a $250,000 donation if the community can rally together and raise $250,000. With approximately 25,000 students, 2,500 staff members and a community of supportive businesses, the Foundation feels this is an attainable goal. Our goal is to raise all of the funds by the last day of school May 23, 2018.
